You may be interested in employing an Access Program participant in your organisation. Here are the benefits for employing an Access Program participant who has been a part of a SkillsPlus course or through an Access Program provider sub-contracted by SkillsPlus. You may also be interested in taking on an Access Program participant through work experience. The following information should help you make your decision.
How does the Access Program work?
The Access Program assists eligible jobseekers to obtain and retain an Australian Apprenticeship or employment, by providing:
- Training in the basic skills needed for a particular industry
- Coaching in general work skills
- Help while looking for work
- Support while settling in the workplace.
Why choose an Access Program jobseeker?
They can adapt quickly into your business because they have:
- The basic industry skills to get them started
- Some experience in the workplace
- General work skills and habits
- Motivation to work in your industry
- A good understanding of what an employer wants
- Help with settling in during the first 13 weeks of their Australian Apprenticeship or employment.
Who provides the Access Program services?
The Access Program is delivered by local organisations known as the Access Program providers, who have knowledge of the local labour market. They also have the expertise to deliver the type of training that is required for a particular industry.
What does it cost?
The Access Program is provided free for eligible job seekers. Employers may be eligible for an Australian Government incentive if the Access Program job seekers are placed into an Australian Apprenticeship. Information on incentives is available from your local Australian Apprenticeships Centre.
