Youth Programs

Welcome to Youth Programs
Our programs aim to re-engage youth back into education through offering smaller, less formal classes and fostering safe, caring and self-paced learning activities.

Certificates in General Education for Adults
The Certificates in General Education for Adults (CGEA) are four accredited certificates which allow adults aged 16 and over who have not completed secondary education to improve their literacy, numeracy and general education skills.

The certificates provide a range of educational opportunities to assist adults to meet personal needs, increase participation in the community, workplace, further education and training.

Duration
Full-time 4 days per week
Monday – Thursdays 10.00am – 2.30pm
6 Months

Entry Requirements
Must have successful completion of year 8 and be at least 16 years of age. Entry is based on a pre-course interview. Past academic results will be considered.


Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)
VCAL is a senior secondary school certificate that gives practical work related experience, literacy and numeracy skills, and personal skills needed for work and life.

If you’re interested in going on to further training, doing an apprenticeship or traineeship, or getting a job after competing year 12 then VCAL might be the hands on option you’ve been looking for. 

Career Opportunities 
This course helps participants secure work in a range of industries with specific training in Retail, Hospitality and Business industries.

Duration
January – December 2011, 10.00am – 2.30pm

Entry Requirements
Participants at the time of enrolment must be 15 years old, left school without completing year 12, are unemployed and not undertaking further education or training. Places are limited.

Innovative Programs

Street Art Initiative

A series of street art workshops and one-on-one sessions were run by professional artists with VCAL students and staff. Areas covered by the workshops included: history of street art, culture and perception, legal studies, discussions for and against graffiti and famous artists.
